HBCU SpringComing Birmingham Recap

HBCU SpringComing donated $35,000 to the Birmingham Promise. This initiative helps local students in Birmingham who meet the criteria earn a free education at state schools in Alabama. Learn more about the Birmingham Promise initiative here. Special thanks to our scholarship sponsor, Indeed.

A $2,500 scholarship was awarded to Naomi Blanks, a graduating senior attending Alabama A&M University next year. This scholarship, sponsored by USTA Southern, represents our commitment to supporting the next generation of HBCU leaders.

Charting Our Course: A Conversation Honoring the HBCU Reparations Movement

Our first event of the weekend delved into the landmark Knight/Sims vs. Alabama case, emphasizing the importance of equitable opportunities in education. We are grateful to panelists John F. Knight, Alese Sims, Mayor Randall Woodfin, and moderator Dr. Kevin Rolle for their insightful contributions.

The Kickback Comedy Show

Following the panel, attendees enjoyed an evening of laughter with Donnell Rawlings, Melanie Mitchell, Radio Big Mack, and Funny Main.

Sips & Sounds provided an opportunity to support Black-owned liquor and wine brands while enjoying live musical performances by A Fly Guy and Q Parker of 112.

Tennis Daze, hosted by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Region, served up a morning packed with excitement and a little friendly competition. Congratulations to all the players who brought their A-game to the court!

As the weekend wrapped up, attendees gathered for the Hav Plenty Brunch: The Midnight Edition, an epic late-night finale with mouthwatering cuisine and drinks to go around!
